When we got back from our cruise to the Baltic in June we didn’t plan on
returning to the sea this year. However with such good bargains around for
cruising we found it too difficult to resist. That is why you now find us
on-board the Crown Princess heading for the Mediterranean and over the next two
weeks we will be visiting Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Pisa/Florence, Rome, Naples
and Corsica before dropping in at Gibraltar on the way back to Southampton.
We drove down yesterday, an uneventful journey except for a kamikaze pheasant
who decided to cross the A34 in front of us. I think I may have killed it but
unfortunately it has taken out one of the front grills on my car and rendered
the parking sensor useless. I’m hoping there is no pheasant lodged in my car as
it will begin to smell a bit in a fortnight.
Our boarding on the ship was due to start at 11.00 and to be honest it seemed
a little chaotic in the departure hall. Never the less we cleared the paperwork,
security and the obligatory “Welcome On Board” photo and were actually on the
ship by 11.30. Indeed not just on the ship but in our cabin- a new World
record.
This is the first time that we have sailed on the Crown Princess but it is a
very similar craft to the Azura so we could find our way around quite quickly.
One difference on this ship is the golf course on the upper deck although I
don’t think the Ryder Cup will be played here any time soon.
We have three days at sea now so hopefully we can take advantage of the large
balcony with our cabin.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to add some more photos- Live Writer doesn't seem to be working well tonight.
