Day Seven – Aboard “The Rhapsody of the Seas”

The boarding process went better than expected. After leaving the hotel at 12.00 we were on board by 1.00.Our room was ready when we arrived but no sign of any luggage. We spent the next hour or so enjoying “The Windjammer” buffet before walking around the ship to acclimatise ourselves. We then returned to the room to unpack. But still no luggage.

The weather was a little drizzly which was a great pity because the views of Sydney from the ship are stunning, hopefully the sun will return tomorrow to make some good photo opportunities. The Rhapsody looks to be a fine ship although no ship looks good in the rain as the upper deck carpets are wet which makes them look untidy.

Our stateroom is superb. As I am sure I have mentioned to one or two of you we got an upgrade to a Junior suite which is about twice as big as the cabins we have previously had, with the balcony area about half as much again.Unfortunately the ship is facing towards Sydney and our cabin is at the back but we have a view of the zoo.It is now 5.00 in the afternoon and still no luggage.

Our dinner is first sitting at 6.00 but with no fresh clothes to change into our new dinner guests will have to take us as we are. I  am sure we are not the only ones without luggage yet. In fact I know that next door have received theirs or more correctly some of theirs as there has been raised voices on the telephone regarding the loss of a bag.At least we don’t know yet whether ours are lost.

Our table for dinner is close to the door to the dining room and is set for eight. We arrive first and await with some apprehension, eyeing up every new person entering the room ,wondering if they were to be our dining partners. Other tables began to fill but no sign of anyone joining us and it became apparent that we would be dining alone tonight. I don’t believe it has anything to do with the way we are dressed. We are informed by the head waiter that all the tables are full and the other parties are probably enjoying an early night or visiting Sydney. We will wait until tomorrow to see.The table is next to a window with the skyline of Sydney lit up,what a perfect way to spend my birthday, a dinner for two in Sydney harbour.

And yes our luggage was there when we returned to the rKen on our suite's balconyoom!!!
