Day Two - Robbie 1 - Bon Jovi 0.

Sunday night was the first “Black Tie” night of the cruise and as is usual with P&O, the Captain’s cocktail party. Far from being an intimate event where you mingle with the Captain and his officers, this is held in the Atrium with approximately half the ship’s passengers in attendance. The cocktail consists of a warm “pretend” champagne and if you are extremely lucky you may capture an hors d’ouvres from a passing tray. Tonight however was slightly different as the Captain was available for photographs and it seemed a shame not to take him up on his offer. Firstly with two small shipmates…….

….. and then with a full group.

Although Monday started a little overcast, as the morning progressed the sky got bluer and the pool area got busier.
(See if you can spot Oliver on this photo).

This gave the perfect opportunity for some father/son bonding, firstly in the swimming pool…...

……and then the jacuzzi.

Poppy who had spent most of the day so far in the kid’s club (there’s a surprise) joined the rest of the family for lunch and a part of the jacuzzi action.

Even some of the older members of the party joined in.

On most of the cruises on which we have travelled the average age of the passengers generally is up towards the 60s. On this one I reckon its a good twenty years younger, and this is reflected in the entertainment that is laid on. A music quiz around the pool this afternoon featured only two tracks from the sixties with most of the answers being far too modern for me. This new music sounds all the same!!
This evening we were treated to a choice of two tribute acts, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi. We went to the Robbie concert and I have to say he was most convincing and extreemly entertaining. One of the best tribute acts that I have seen. So good in fact that I thought I had better give Bon Jovi a chance so I went to the later show. Unfortunately playing loud and wearing dark glasses does not a Bon Jovi make, I’m afraid on this occassion Robbie wins hands down.
Tomorrow we enter the Meditarranean and have been promised lots more sunshine.
