One of the biggest benefits about cruising on a large ship is that there is usually something for everyone to do, even if your tastes are different. This morning we sampled the various items on offer on the Azura, the children went to the Kid’s Club where they made play dough, Oliver went to the gym, Sylvia and Victoria went to an art class and I went to a talk by Ollie Smith & Atul Kochhar in the theatre. After fireworks and flashing lights the pair rose from beneath the stage together with a rock and a sheep, a spectacular entrance being something of a tradition for these two!!
The show featured anecdotes about their careers especially their TV appearances, and was very entertaining. The art classes however didn’t live up to their promise and the girls left before they began using their time to explore some other areas of the ship.
When the sun comes out the whole dynamic of a cruise changes. Over the last few days the overcast skies and cool temperatures has meant that all the inside seating has been occupied while at the same time the outside is empty. The sun completely reverses this balance, and today the sun came out. I’m not sure what the temperature was but by the late afternoon many of the passengers had reached that nice shade of pink that only a British holidaymaker can achieve.
Tonight was the first formal night of the cruise which means we all changed into our finery, Oliver and Victoria had booked their meal in Sindhu, so Sylvia and I had an early meal in order to pick the children up from the Kid’s Club. Tonight our table included a Cornishman who had an accidental audience with the Pope on his last visit to Rome even though [in his words] he was C of E. You never know who you will met next with Freedom Dining!!
The table tennis today resulted in a 4-0 win for me but due to the sunshine we didn’t enter any quizzes, but here’s a good question.
Last night we put the clocks forward by an hour and according to the ship’s log we are now UTC+2. What does UTC stand for ?
Answer tomorrow when hopefully we are celebrating the UK’s victory in Eurovision!!!!
