Day Two–Joey’s Birthday

Firstly an apology, due to circumstances beyond my control [an issue with the “Blogger” server I think] there was a delay in posting yesterday’s episode. I believe that normal service has now been resumed so away we go.

Some may have had concerns about being aboard on Friday the Thirteenth but the day started as any other with breakfast in the buffet followed by a quick game of table-tennis. It was the first match this cruise and the score at the end was a very respectable one –all, so all to play for!!

Aboard the Azura for the first days of the cruise are celebrity chef Atul Kochhar of “Saturday Kitchen” fame and also wine expert Ollie Smith. Together this morning they presented a live cookery demonstration in the theatre conjuring up a superb smelling [we didn’t get a chance to taste it] crab salad and lamb Rogan josh.

Some great tips about Indian cooking especially on how to cook onions, which Atul reckons is the key to good curries. They are both signing books tomorrow so there will probably be some new additions to my cookery shelf.

Poppy and Joey spent most of the day in the children’s club which gave Victoria and Oliver a chance to use the gym and also to join us in a couple of quizzes. A brave second place was gained in the Music Quiz [must try harder!!!!] while we scored a credible 19/25 in the progressive quiz [let down by the true or false round].

The children spent the afternoon welcoming two more celebrities on-board, Noddy and Mister Bump, although Joseph had fallen to sleep in the arms of one of the Reef Rangers before the end. He was back awake in time for children’s high tea where the kid’s club presented him with a cake and a large card to compliment the one received from the Captain this morning.

Joey really enjoyed his cake………..

Tonight was the first show presentation in the theatre a celebration of choreography entitled “Destination Dance”. Sylvia , Victoria and I attended while Ollie bathed a very tired Joseph and Poppy returned to the kid’s club for a viewing of “Shrek”. The dance show was very enjoyable and the singers seem much stronger than on the previous trip, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

On returning to our room a small towel elephant reminded us that the clocks go forward an hour tonight.

  1. I hope Joey had a lovely birthday! Cruise sounds great so far - am very jealous as currently at work at 04:15 in the morning! Give Poppy and Joseph a big kiss from their Aunty Helena
